Three customers admired the sunglasses at a Sunrise department store but not enough to pay for them.
At 6:18 p.m. Aug. 22 a combination of closed circuit TV and live surveillance spotted a real estate agent from Maine when he placed three pairs of Armani sunglasses in the pocket of his shorts at Neiman-Marcus, 12801 W. Sunrise Blvd., in the Sawgrass Mills mall. When he was stopped outside, brought back in and arrested, he said he had enough money to pay $300 for the glasses but he had ``made a mistake.''
A front desk employee at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood visited the store about 12:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and left with a pair of Gucci sunglasses valued at $100. Stopped outside she said she had ''inadvertently'' placed the glasses in her purse.
At 1:55 p.m. the same day a lab tech at Plantation General Hospital put sunglasses and clothing in her purse and left without paying the $531 charge. She invoked her right to remain silent until she spoke to an attorney and was transported to jail.
